Moped Gang Hits Covent Garden Apple Store in Smash & Grab

· by · News

Apple’s Covent Garden store in London was targeted in a smash & grab job early Monday morning where several people on mopeds broke in and made off with iPads and other Apple gear.

Metro police said about seven suspects on mopeds wearing full face helmets broke through a store window, stole several iPads “and other similar devices,” then rode off.

Rob Shoesmith, who has been camping outside the store to buy the new iPhone 4S when it goes on sale this Friday, said on his blog “It’s around 1.15 am and the Apple Store in Covent Garden has just been raided! Woke up to hear a load of motor bikes zoom in and then a smash and grab.”

Islington police caught two suspects after a foot chase, and were able to recover some bags with Apple products — presumably merchandise stolen from the store.

Authorities are still looking for the remaining suspects and are asking anyone with information to call the local Crimestoppers line at 0800 555 111.

This looks like the handiwork of the dreaded Hells Accountants Gang. The HAGs have been implicated in a series of vigilante acts of fixing spelling and grammar on store signs and billboards in and around London. Their trademark has been to mark with red any clerk that short changes them. Most recently they were implicated in a vicious auditing of an ice cream vendor in the West End. This would be the first actual violent crime connected to the HAGs. It is assumed the equipment will be used to keep track of expenses and to hold conference calls between members.

Hi Geoduck,
It was financed by Ballmer; He had to take out his aggression against Apple in at least this way because he was forced to be politically correct by eulogizing Steve Jobs, which afterwards he could not help spitting.

Seems that Microsoft stores haven’t been the scene of smash `n grab activities…..just saying!
