Mophie Preps iPhone Credit Card Reader

· by · Product News

iPhone case and battery charger maker Mophie is planning on expanding beyond its current product lineup to include a credit card reader and processing attachment for Apple's combination iPod and smartphone.

It looks like Mophie's add-on system will include a credit card reader along with software to manage transactions, although for now the company isn't elaborating on its credit card reader plans. The company is expected, however, to reveal additional details during CES 2010.

Presumably Mophie's card reader will use the iPhone's wireless data connection to process transactions, letting users handle credit card sales anywhere they can get a cell signal.

CES is the annual consumer electronics trade show scheduled to run from January 7 through January 10, 2010, in Las Vegas. The Mac Observer will be on location offering event coverage.
