Netflix for iPad Adds Video Out Support

· by · Product News

Netflix’s self-named app for the iPad received a welcome update on Wednesday that added the ability to send video out through the multimedia tablet’s Dock port. The update means Netflix subscribers can now stream movies through their iPad to a television.

The update can send video through Apple’s VGA, component and composite Dock connector cables, supports video out at 1024 x 768 resolution, and fixes some crash-related bugs.

Netflix for the iPad is free and is available at Apple’s iTunes-based App Store. It requires a Netflix subscription starting at US$8.99 a month.

Very cool. Can’t wait to see what else gets enabled on the iPad. And I haven’t even bought one yet.

This is huge!  It’s a whole new feature.  I just wish Netflix’s streaming content ??a tiny percentage of their DVD library ? would grow more quickly.  OTOH, Netflix makes it quick and easy to watch streaming movies and TV shows.
