New to the App Store: Robocalypse – Mobile Mayhem, More

Among other new App Store games, Vogster Entertainment has released the funny strategy title Robocalypse – Mobile Mayhem. Written by a pair of animation scribes who have worked on the TV shows SpongeBob Squarepants and Angry Beavers, Robocalypse on the iPhone is a port of the Nintendo DS game of the same name.

Players build and command robot armies to defeat the evil Demolisher and his mechanical marauders. Players have access to 10 types of units and 20 different weapons as they make their way through 17 campaign missions. Up to four players can battle online in head-to-head or co-op modes, with 18 unique maps available.

Robocalypse sells for US$4.99 and requires iPhone OS 2.2.1.

Other new iPhone games include Rake in Grass' puzzle title Crystal Cave Classic ($3.99; iPhone OS 2.1, with over 170 levels full of gemstones for players to collect, if they can get past the traps and other obstacles in their path. Players use teleporters, various types of rocks, and other items to solve puzzles.

Picturati ($0.99; iPhone OS 3.0) is a traditional slide puzzle game in which players try to reassemble a jumbled image. Fifty images are included, with the option to use an image from the device's library, along with four difficulty levels, optional piece numbers, and the ability to play songs from the music library.

Finally, 10tons' Boom Brigade ($0.99; iPhone OS 2.0) mixes tower defense strategy games with shooters as players take command of a brigade tasked with defending a bunker from an alient attack. Three classes of troops, along with three types of weapons, are available. Reinforcements arrive as the levels progress, and defeated aliens leave behind loot that can be used to upgrade weapons and repair the bunker.
