Newer Technology announced the immediate availability of a 2TB version of its Guardian MAXimus mini portable RAID data storage system. The system supports RAID-0 mode for up to 2TB of storage, RAID-1 for 1TB of storage with mirrored data, and includes FireWire 800/400 connections, along with USB 2.0 and eSATA.

The Guardian MAXimus mini holds two 2.5-inch SATA drives, includes two FireWire 800 ports, a USB 2.0 port and an eSATA port, is bus powered so an external power supply isn’t needed, and supports data transfer speeds up to 300MB/s.
Pricing for the Guardian MAXimus mini portable RAID starts at US$179.99 for the 960GB version, and tops out at $299.99 for the 2TB model. The system is available at the NewerTech Web site.
