Nisus Software announced the immediate availability of Nisus Writer Pro 1.3.1 and Nisus Writer Express 3.3.1 on Monday. The updates for the word processing applications added support for Mac OS X 10.6, or Snow Leopard.

Nisus Writer Express 3.3.1 also added the ability to attach the active document to a Mail or Entourage email message, the ability to auto-capitalize the first word in each sentence, and fixed several bugs.

Nisus Writer Pro is priced at US$79, and Nisus Writer Express costs $45. Both are available at the Nisus Software Web site.

With Microsoft Word being the 800lb gorilla in this market—and with Pages being the obvious #2 for the Mac—I’m happy to see Nisus Writer continually updated, especially with a focus on Snow Leopard. At its price point, this is a good option for people, though admittedly most folks probably don’t realize it’s even an option.
