· by · Product News

nova media announced the immediate availability of the iCON 225 USB-based 3G modem on Thursday. The modem supports HSDPA connections, up to 7.2Mbit/s downloads, and quad-band EDGE and GPRS.

The iCON 225 isn't SIM-locked to any cell carrier, making it easy to use around the world. It also includes nova media's launch2net application that auto-connects to a long list of mobile service providers in several countries. The modem also includes a USB extension cable and lanyard.

The iCON 225 is priced at €117 (about US$157.27) and requires Mac OS X 10.4.11, or 10.5.2 or higher.

Which U.S. carriers will this work with?

For EDGE and GPRS it will work with ATT and T-Mobile. For high-speed 3G it will not work in the US.
