Opera rolled out a public beta of Opera 10, the next version of the company's Web browser, on Thursday with the claim that it can improve browsing performance over slow Internet connections with the new Opera Turbo feature. Opera 10 also sports a new rendering engine that offers up to a 40 percent speed boost on resource-intensive Web pages.

Version 10 includes a redesigned user interface, thumbnail views in browser tabs, built-in email support, a favorite Web sites view, in-line spell checking, and more.

Opera 10 public beta is available as a free download at the Opera Web site.
