Opera, the company known for its self-named Web browser, rolled out a new photo, music and file sharing service dubbed Opera Unite on Tuesday. Unlike other media sharing services that require users to upload content to Internet-based servers, Opera Unite lets individual users share content from their own computer.
Opera Unite will let users share photos and music, securely share files, host group chats, host Web sites, and post notes on friends' "virtual refrigerators." Web developers can create their own Web services that expand Opera Unite's capabilities, too.
Users will need the Opera Unite version of the Opera Web browser, which is available as a free download at the Opera Unite Web site. The current application build is still in the alpha stage, so be prepared for unexpected bugs and problems
