| Product News

SmileOnMyMac announced the immediate availability of PDFpen 4.5 on Tuesday. The update for the PDF editing application includes the OmniPage optical character recognition (OCR) engine from Nuance Communications.

The PDFpen update replaced the Tesseract open source OCR engine with the OmniPage version 15.5 OCR engine, added the ability for Snow Leopard users to scan in the app from Image Capture and TWAIN-compatible scanners, and added the ability to select and highlight text in a single action.

PDFpen 4.5 is priced at US$49.95 and is available for download at the SmileOnMyMac Web site. The update is free for version 4 users.

PDFpen Pro 4.5 is available as well. It is priced at $99.95 and includes the ability to create PDF forms and document table of contents.
