Smile Software announced the immediate availability of PDFpen for the iPad 1.1 on Wednesday. The update for the PDF viewing and editing app added support for the third generation iPad’s high resolution Retina Display.

Version 1.1 also added the ability to rotate pages, and added support for grouping documents in folders.

Along with the release of PDFpen for iPad 1.1, Smile Software also updated PDFpen for the Mac to version 5.8. The Mac version added the ability to view documents in iCloud folders, move and organize iCloud-based documents, and rename iCloud folders. It also fixed some OCR issues, and dropped support for 32-bit Intel processors to comply with Apple’s new ARC memory management.

PDFpen for the iPad is priced at US$9.99 until May 1 when it changes to $14.99. It is available for purchase through Apple’s iTunes-based App Store.

PDFpen for the Mac costs $59.95, or $99.95 for PDFpen Pro with form creation support. The updates for the Mac and iPad versions are free for current users.

Mac OS X PDFpen users who bought the app through the Smile Software website and want to take advantage of iCloud support must purchase the $0.99 PDFpen Cloud Access app through the Mac App Store. Customers that purchased PDFpen from the Mac App Store don’t need to buy PDFpen Cloud Access.
