Lloyd Gould has posted photos of the construction site at Apple’s 5th Avenue store in New York. They’re on his MobileMe page.

So far, it’s not clear exactly why Apple is doing this renovation. Speculation seems to center on either a structural problem or perhaps Apple’s feeling that, in light of the newest store in China, the New York store needs an updated design.
