PlayFirst on Wednesday released Valerie Porter and the Scarlet Scandal, a new hidden object game for Mac OS X. Set during the 1920s, the game puts players in the role of up-and-coming reporter Valerie Porter, who soon finds herself covering a major story: the death of starlet Scarlet Velour. Prize fighter Johnny Johnson was seen fleeing the scene of the crime, but soon Valerie discovers links to other luminaries, including the town’s mayor.
The game features 21 locations to explore, with 11 chapters of storyline presented and a new “click ‘n’ string” timed hidden object gameplay mechanic in which players have one minute to find and chain together all like objects. Pricing is US$19.99, or $9.95 for PlayPass subscribers. A demo limited to one hour of gameplay is also available.
