Playing iTunes LP, iTunes Extras Content on Apple TV

· by · TMO Quick Tip

The release of the Apple TV 3.0 update added the ability to play iTunes LP and iTunes Extras content on your Apple TV. Any LP and Extras content you've already downloaded, however, isn't compatible with your Apple TV, but updates are on the way.

Apple is currently updating iTunes LP and iTunes Extras content for Apple TV 3.0 and will email users to alert them when albums and movies with the extra content they have already downloaded have been updated. Once the new versions are available, users will be able to re-download the albums and movies at no extra cost.

To download updated iTunes LP and iTunes Extras content once it's available, do this:

  • Launch iTunes.
  • Go to Store > Check for available downloads.
  • Download the available albums or movies.

You'll need iTunes 9.0.2 or higher and Apple TV 3.0 to play iTunes LP and iTunes Extras content on your Apple TV. Instructions on updating your iTunes LP and iTunes Extras purchases is available at the Apple Web site, too.

I don’t have any iTunes LP albums for my Apple TV yet. I’m looking forward to seeing how they look.
