PwnageTool 3.1.4 Hacks iPhone OS 3.1.2

· by · News

The iPhone and iPod touch users waiting for a jailbreak hack before upgrading to OS 3.1.2 got the green light from Dev-Team on Wednesday with the release of PwnageTool 3.1.4. The new version of the hack tool supports Apple's latest OS update for the original iPhone, iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, and the original and second generation iPod touch.

Jailbreaking is the process of hacking an iPhone or iPod touch so that unsupported third-party applications can be added to the handheld. Apple doesn't support jailbreaking and won't offer support for devices that are jailbroken.

The new version of PwnageTool also lets iPhones that have been hacked to work outside of Apple's cell carrier agreements still make and receive calls, but it doesn't unlock phones that are still bound to official service providers.

PwnageTool 3.1.4 is available for download, along with a list of warnings and installation steps, at the iPhone Dev-Team Web site.
