Rumor Claims iOS 7 Beta 7 Coming Monday

A report Monday morning claimed that Apple is ready to drop iOS 7 beta 7 on developers later today. If true, that would mark a surprisingly fast turn around for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch operating system since beta 6 was released just last Thursday.

According to Boy Genius Report, Apple has already begun distributing the new beta release to a select few and will roll out the update to all developers this afternoon. Apparently this beta release will include more changes than last week's release which focused on iTunes and iCloud issues.

Assuming today's report is accurate, last week's update was likely an interim release targeting just iTunes and iCloud features the company wanted to address outside of its regular beta release cycle.

Apple is expected to announce a September 10 iPhone-related media event any day now with new models launching a week or two after that. The company no doubt plans to have iOS 7 ready to go for the new iPhone rollout, so it's likely that development on the new operating system is getting close to wrapping up. BGR's sources say that's the case, and this will be the last beta release ahead of a September release to the public.

There isn't an official release schedule for iOS beta updates so that means there isn't any guarantee that developers will be updating their iPhone and iPads this afternoon. That said, releasing a new beta so quickly doesn't give Apple or developers much time to test the beta 6 release for issues.

The idea that a new beta update could come so close on the heals of the last is interesting, so we'll be skeptically watching to see if this report pans out.
