Samsung Galaxy S6 Sales Tank in South Korea

Samsung's Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge smartphones aren't drawing in South Korean customers in the numbers the company was hoping for. The electronics maker was expecting to sell 300,000 units since their April 10 launch, but so far has managed to sell only 200,000.

With customers showing lower interest in Samsung's home country, it's looking less likely that it will hit its 50 million units sold goal for 2015, according to Yonhap News.

Samsung was expecting the new Galaxy S6 models to be big sellers and draw attention away from Apple's iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. That doesn't seem to be the case, at least not with early adopters.

Smartphone retailers are hoping to see a positive shift in sales. One retailer said, "We expect sales will improve soon, as the mobile carriers decided to increase subsidies on the Galaxy S6 series."

In other words, resellers need to see a price drop before they can hope to draw in consumers in meaningful numbers.
