Shazam & Google Latitude Apps Add Social Features

Music app Shazam and Google Latitude’s iPhone were updated Monday with social networking features. Shazam 4.0.0 for iPhone added Shazam Friends, while Google Latitude 2.1 lets you “check in” a lá Foursquare for your Buzz friends can see.

Shazam Friends feature: See what your friends are tagging – listen to previews of their tags, buy the track, watch videos and more! To get started Shazam will find your friends through Facebook and see who’s already sharing their music on Shazam.

Google Latitude patch notes:

  • Check-ins: Check in at places like restaurants so your friends can see you’re there.
  • Improved battery use when background reporting

Google Places was also updated with new features. The patch notes:

  • Google Places with Hotpot now in 30 languages!
  • Localized to new languages and locales such as French, German, Italian, Spanish, Chinese, Korean, Polish, and Russian.
  • Sync your favorite places for quick and easy access
  • Star a place to save it for later
  • Automatically syncs with starred places on maps.google.com. Saving a place for quick access on your phone has never been easier.
  • Bug fixes and tweaks

All three apps are free, as are the updates.
