· by · Product News

Skype released a beta version of Skype 5.4 for the Mac on Thursday with text chat support with Facebook users. Video chat support with Facebook users isn’t available yet, but Skype promised the feature will be coming.

Skype users can also view their Facebook News Feed, add comments to posts, and Like posts.

Skype, now with more FacebookSkype, now with more Facebook

Skype is a video, audio and text chat application that’s available for the Mac, Windows, and many mobile devices including the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.

Along with the beginnings of Facebook integration, the beta update also added ads for Skype users that aren’t paying for the service.

The beta version of Skype 5.4 for the Mac is available as a free download at the Skype Web site.

The headline should be Skype 5.4 Beta Adds Facebook Support, Advertisements.

Along with the beginnings of Facebook integration, the beta update also added ads for Skype users that aren?t paying for the service.

With Microsoft ruining Skype, Google Voice and Apple’s FaceTime (and iChat/iMessage) are looking better and better.

(Though wasn’t FaceTime supposed to be an “open standard?”)
