Open Planet Software announced the immediate availability of Smoovie 1.0 for the iPad 2 on Tuesday. The app uses the iPad’s built-in cameras to capture photos that can be strung together to make an animated movie.

Smoovie supports the iPad 2’s front and rear-facing cameras, offers onion skinning overlays for matching frames, lets users rearrange frames, offers cut and paste for frames and scenes, includes playback rate control from 1-frame up to 30-frames per second, supports AirPlay, and can export finished videos to YouTube and the iPad camera roll.
Smoovie 1.0 is priced at US$4.99 and is available at Apple’s iTunes-based App Store.
