Sonos ZonePlayer S5 Uses iPhone for Remote

· by · Product News

Sonos introduced its new ZonePlayer S5 wireless music system and dock on Tuesday. Instead of shipping with a traditional remote control, the ZonePlayer S5 can be controlled through a remote app on the iPhone or iPod touch.

The ZonePlayer S5 includes a built-in amplifier, subwoofer, two tweeters and two mid-range drivers. It supports streaming audio from iTunes and Internet radio stations, can stream music to other ZonePlayer units, and includes audio inputs for other devices such as CD players or portable digital music players.

The iPhone and iPod touch remote control app lets users browse their music library and Internet radio stations, control playback volume, set which ZonePlayer units receive music, and more. The unit is also compatible with the Sonos Controller 200 remote control.

The ZonePlayer S5 is priced at US$399 and will be available on October 27.
