Starbucks Launches Digital Network with Yahoo!

· by · News

Starbucks launched its new in-store Starbucks Digital Network service on Wednesday in conjunction with Yahoo!. The service lets customers that hop on the Wi-Fi network in U.S. Starbucks locations access content from the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, and several other publishers without paying any extra fees.

Starbucks Digital Network

Starbucks Digital Network will offer six different “channels” such as health, entertainment and business, along with access to social networking services. To help personalize the service a little more, Starbucks will also offer a local channel that includes Zagat listings, Foursquare’s location-based service, and Yahoo!’s own Patch news service.

To help kick off Starbucks Digital Network, customers will have access to free songs, a special clip from the new movie “Waiting for Superman,” a music video from Fistful of Mercy, and more.

Customers can take advantage of Starbucks Digital Network for free, and Wi-Fi Internet access in the company’s coffee shops is free as well.
