Steve Jobs Helps Promote Organ Donor Legislation

· by · News

Apple CEO Steve Jobs joined California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital in Palo Alto, Calif. on Friday to help make a push for organ donor legislation. Recalling that he was able to fly to Memphis last year  to have a liver transplant, he remarked: “Last year, 400 other Californians died waiting. I could have died.”

His comment was quoted by the San Jose Mercury News. A press release on Mr. Schwarzenegger’s government web page has a video from the event, but the file does not play, thanks to a 404 error for the underlying stream. According to the press release, California is seeking to create a first-in-the-nation living donor registry that would connect those seeking to donate organs with those who need them.
