· by · Product News

Apple introduced its first Thunderbolt-equipped Mac back in February, and peripherals that take advantage of the high-speed port are finally appearing at Apple’s online store. The first two accessories, a Thunderbolt data cable and Pegasus RAID system, showed up on the Apple Store Web site Tuesday morning.

Thunderbolt Cable
The Apple Thunderbolt cable supports data transfer for peripherals, and can lets the MacBook Pro use an iMac as a second display.

The Apple Store Web site states:

Thunderbolt technology supports blazing-fast data transfer with two independent channels of 10Gbit/s each. Use the Apple Thunderbolt cable to connect your Thunderbolt-equipped peripherals to your new iMac or new MacBook Pro.

Apple Thunderbolt cable can also be used for Target Disk Mode between two Macs that support Thunderbolt, or to use a new iMac as a display for a MacBook Pro equipped with Thunderbolt.

The Apple Thunderbolt cable is priced at US$49.

Promise Pegasus Thunderbolt RAID
Apple’s online store also offers the Promise Pegasus R4 and R6 Thunderbolt RAID storage systems. The R4 is available with 4TB or 8TB of storage, and the R6 is available in 6TB or 12TB capacities.
