Apparently Apple has scheduled in-store staff to set up new displays after closing so the new iMac models can go on sale once doors open Tuesday morning, according to AppleInsider’s unnamed sources.

Apple last updated the iMac line in July, 2010 with the introduction of the current 21.5-inch and 27-inch models. The machines are available with Intel Core i3, i5 or i7 processors running at up to 2.93GHz.

Adding Thunderbolt to the iMac would mark Apple’s first move onto the desktop with the new port. Thunderbolt supports external displays along with audio and data transfer for multiple peripherals simultaneously through a single port.

Apple hasn’t confirmed new iMacs will ship Tuesday because the company doesn’t comment on rumor or speculation.
