Thunderbolt Update Adds Gigabit Ethernet Support

Thunderbolt Software Update 1.2 adds Gigabit Ethernet Adapter supportFollowing the release of its new MacBook Pro and MacBook Pro with retina display computers, Apple released Thunderbolt Software Update 1.2 on Monday. The update added support for the Thunderbolt to Gigabit Ethernet adapter the company also announced during its Worldwide Developers Conference keynote presentation earlier in the day.

The new Gigabit Ethernet adapter lets Macs equipped with a Thunderbolt port connect to wired Ethernet networks, and is especially handy for the MacBook Air and new MacBook Pro models that dont include a built-in Ethernet port.

The Apple Thunderbolt to Ethernet adapter is priced at US$29. The compatibility update for Thunderbolt-equipped Macs is available as a free download via Apple’s Software Update application.
