TiVo announced via its Twitter account that a TiVo-branded app for the iPad will be out by the end of January, 2011. The company also said in another tweet that it was looking at Android and iPhone for apps, too.
iOS apps from cable TV services have been offering live content guides, remote control features for settop boxes, and the ability to stream content directly to one’s iPad. TiVo’s app will offer similar features, including content guides, DVR management, and a remote control for your TiVo device.
In yet another tweet, the company said that the app requires that the iPad and TiVo unit both be on the same network.
