TransGaming on Monday announced that it will publish BioWare’s epic fantasy RPG Dragon Age: Origins on the Mac on Dec. 21. It’s available now for pre-order as a standard or deluxe version – the latter offers a collection of wallpapers, in-game bonus items, the game’s soundtrack and a new adventure called Warden’s Keep.
Dragon Age: Origins puts players in the role of a Grey Warden, one of the last of an ancient order of guardians and tasked with uniting a shattered kingdom and destroying the dragon Archdemon. Along the way, players must make tough decisions, such as whether or not to sacrifice others for the greater good. Players can customize their characters in various ways, including the choice of one of six origin stories, and can choose from more than 100 magical spells and abilities.
Warden’s Keep allows players to use two of six new abilities and features Soldier’s Peak, a fortress overrun by demons and offering new adventures. The standard and deluxe versions of the game also include The Stone Prisoner, with more environments and items, along with a powerful stone golem who can join the character’s party, and Blood Dragon Armor, a set of themed armor.
The standard version of the game is US$49.95 while the deluxe edition is $64.95. Dragon Age: Origins may be the first game to require Snow Leopard: system requirements call for Mac OS X version 10.6.2, an Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 2GB RAM, 17GB of hard drive space, and an ATI X1600 or Nvidia 7300 or better video card.
