Tweetie Disappears from App Store

· by · News

The popular iPhone Twitter client, Tweetie 2, disappeared from Apple’s App Store late on Tuesday, leading to speculation that a new version of the app will be coming soon. Tweetie was purchased from Atebits by Twitter to be retooled as the social network’s official Twitter client.

Atebits founder, Loren Brichter, announced in early April that Twitter was purchasing the iPhone version of Tweetie and that he would be joining the company’s mobile applications team.

Twitter hasn’t announced yet when the updated iPhone and iPod touch version of Tweetie will be released, nor has the company said when to expect the promised iPad version of the app. Twitter’s version of Tweetie will, however, be available as a free download.
