Twelve South PlugBug Charges MacBook, iPad Together

· by · Product News

Twelve South announced the immediate availability of its PlugBug charger on Tuesday. The PlugBug is an add-on for Apple’s MacBook charger that adds a USB port that can power an iPad or other USB devices.

The PlugBug replaces the outlet prongs on the MacBook, MacBook Pro, or MacBook Air power adapter with a new piece that includes a 10 Watt 2.1 Amp powered USB port. The port offers enough juice to charge an iPad, which older MacBook models can’t do from their built-in USB ports.

“Now you can carry just one compact PlugBug to charge your iPad or iPhone and leave the other chargers at home, reducing the clutter in your computer bag,” the Twelve South team said. “Forget about worrying whether or not you remembered your iPad charger — with PlugBug it’s always connected to your MacBook charger.”

The charger adapter includes a travel cap so it can be used as a stand-alone product, too.

The PlugBug is priced at US$34.99 and is available at the Twelve South Web site.

Seems pretty slick. Is a cable management widget included?
