Unlocked SIM-Free iPhone 6 Now Available in the U.S. Starting at $649

Almost four months after the launch of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, Apple is now offering unlocked, SIM-free versions of the company’s latest phones via its U.S. online store and, soon, U.S. Apple Retail Stores. Pricing for the unlocked iPhones remains the same as the unsubsidized cost of carrier-specific models, ranging from $649 for a 16GB iPhone 6, to $949 for a 128GB iPhone 6 Plus.

Of note, the unsubsidized T-Mobile version of the iPhone 6 sold by Apple since the product’s launch in the United States has always been unlocked, although it shipped with a T-Mobile compatible SIM. The SIM-free model now available appears to simply remove the T-Mobile SIM for the customer, but both models are compatible with many GSM mobile carriers around the world, as long as the correct Nano SIM is installed.

All colors and capacities of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus are available SIM-free and unlocked, and currently show a shipping time of three-to-five business days.
