V Phone Adds VoIP, SMS over IP to iPhone

· by · Product News

Matrix Knowledge Management introduced V Phone for the iPhone on Thursday. The application lets iPhone users make VoIP phone calls and send SMS messages over IP, too.

V Phone supports multiple VoIP providers, along with Wi-Fi and wireless data connections for calls. It includes support for SMS over two VoIP carriers, but users can enter settings for additional carriers as well.

Users pay for their phone calls by the minute at rates below traditional telephone providers, and per-message SMS rates are lower as well.

V Phone is priced at US$5.

Matrix Knowledge Management expects V Phone to be available at Apple's App Store within three weeks.
