VMware Fusion 3 Improves Snow Leopard Support

· by · Product News

VMware unveiled VMware Fusion 3 on Tuesday. The new version of the system virtualization application will offer improved Mac OS X 10.6 support along with support Windows Aero and Flip 3D.

The application lets users run additional operating systems, including Microsoft Windows, at the same time as Mac OS X. Running extra operating systems at the same time as Mac OS X means users won't have to reboot their computer using Boot Camp to choose Windows or Mac OS X.

VMWare Fusion 3 will include native 64-bit support, a utility to import complete PCs for use as virtual machines, support for OpenGL 2.1 and DirectX 9.0c Shader Model 3, and more.

VMWare Fusion 3 is available for pre-order and is set to ship on October 27. It is priced at US$79.99, or $39.99 for upgrades from earlier versions.

The competition between Parallels and VMware is terrific.  Rather than switch back and forth at each leapfrog, I tend to stick with one.  But it’s always tempting each time one surges forward.
