VMware’s Fusion 5 Adds Mountain Lion, Windows 8 Support

VMware announced the immediate availability of VMware Fusion 5 on Thursday. The new version of the platform virtualization app added support for Apple’s recently released OS X Mountain Lion, and Microsoft’s soon to be released Windows 8.

Version 5 support’s Mountain Lion’s AirPlay feature, showing Windows apps in Launchpad, displays updates in Notification Center, supports USB 3.0, can run Mountain Lion and Mountain Lion server as virtual machines, includes Retina Display support, offers virtualization compatibility for over 200 operating systems, and more.

Fusion 5 is priced at US$49.99, or $99.99 for Fusion 5 Professional. Fusion 3 and 4 users, as well as Parallels Desktop users, can upgrade to Fusion 5 Professional for $49.99, and users that bought Fusion 4 on or after July 25, 2012, can upgrade to version 5 for free.
