Xbox Live Marketing Boss Joins Apple’s App Store Team

Apple hires Robin Burrowes from MicrosoftFormer Xbox Live marketing manager Robin Burrowes in now on Apple’s payroll heading up marketing for the App Store in Europe. His involvement in Microsoft’s gaming platform has raised speculation that Apple is ready to make a stronger push into the mobile gaming market.

Mr. Burrowes handled Xbox Live marketing in Europe for seven years before joining Apple. Prior to his stint at Microsoft, he also worked for MSN and HMV, according to MCV.

This isn’t the first gaming-related hire for Apple. The company has already brought Xbox PR supervisor Nick Grange on staff to handle hardware marketing, and Nintendo’s former PR supervisor Robert Saunders joined Apple last year to handle iOS app promotion.

Apple isn’t commenting on Mr. Burrowes new job, but his previous experience in the gaming market does help push the idea that the Mac and iPhone maker really is getting serious about the gaming market.
