Xeric Design announced Monday the release of EarthDesk 4.7, an update to the desktop image utility that speeds up startup times. EarthDesk replaces your Mac's desktop image (or Windows) with a real-time image of the earth.
EarthDesk displays current sun, moon and city illumination, as well as real-time global cloud coverage, allowing you to track hurricanes and other weather systems on your Mac or Windows desktop. The update gives the user greater control over the way the software caches its maps, which the company said makes startup times faster.
The update is free to registered users of version 4.x, and the full version is priced at US$24.95. Version 2.x and 3.x users can upgrade for $11.95. The company offers a trial version of the software, too.
