YouTube Kicks Off Live Streaming Service Test

· by · News

YouTube started a two-day trial of its own streaming channel on Monday. The service will let broadcasters stream their shows as YouTube channels in realtime.

The test phase includes content from Rocketboom, Howcast and Young Hollywood. Howcast, for example, plans to supplement its usual pre-recorded content with live demos and behind the scenes shows over the next two days.

Assuming the trial work out the way YouTube wants, the company will eventually expand the service into what could become the company’s own online TV-style network.

YouTube’s test window runs through Tuesday.
