Twelve South Introduces GhostStand for MacBook Air and Pro

| Cool Stuff Found

Twelve South introduced a new stand for MacBook Air and MacBook Pro on Tuesday, the GhostStand. It's an acrylic stand comprised of two crossed arms that holds your laptop six inches off your desk. It has silicone rails on the top and bottom of both arms that grip both your MacBook and your desk, keeping it from going anywhere. The company said it was inspired by the Ghost Chair by Philippe Starck, if you're into that sort of thing. It's priced at US$34.99 with free shipping in the U.S.

Bought a 12 South stand for my iPhone. It came beautifully packaged, and should have been a great addition to my desktop. The drawback is that they obviously put more time, thought and expense into their packaging than their products! What should have taken no more than 5 minutes to assemble, took over 1/2 hour! The reason — outrageously bad construction. The screw holes were misaligned, which means they may as well have not even been predrilled. I had to use a hammer and screwdriver to insert the plastic dock connector adapter into the base. Even then I couldn’t get it to go all the way in. If this is an indication of the quality of their other offerings, I’d stay clear of them!
