The ReadMate LED Desktop Magnifier from Satechi is not a specific Mac product, but it is so darn helpful and well designed that it deserves a review on these pages. Come to think of it, we techies are always looking at the details of smaller and smaller gadgets.
The FlipStand case for the iPad mini from Felix provides protection and a stand that automatically opens when needed. It features the ability to stand up the iPad mini in portrait or landscape mode, and includes sleep/wake magnets. It is compact and functional with a flair.
A couple of weeks ago I posted a Cool Stuff Found article for Color Cables, an Indiegogo campaign for photofluorescent (i.e. glow-in-the-dark) Lightning, 30-pin Dock, and Micro USB charging cables. The company sent me a couple of their prototypes, and I thought I'd post a Quick Look review while the campaign was still active.
The Ultra-slim Bluetooth keyboard for iPad (E6300) from Rapoo is thin and light. It's about a half-inch longer than the iPad mini, just 8 inches wide. It's small size and features should appeal to those who type with their thumbs.
Toffee’s Flip Wallet case, made of genuine leather, has a place for a iPhone 5/5s, a place for cards and cash, and a really nice extra feature that use a magnet to hold the back in place while you use your iPhone.
Rapoo’s 7100P mouse offers 5 gigahertz wireless transmission, 18 months of battery life and a switch for either 500 or 1000 dpi. There's a convenient storage area in the battery compartment for the dongle. Nancy Gravley liked this new and fairly inexpensive mouse.
The new Prodigy case for iPad Air from ZooGue offers good protection, a pebbled surface for good grip, a choice of six landscape viewing angles, and a magnetic sleep/wake and secure magnetic closure. This folio case is sturdy but not especially light compared to others TMO has tested.
HooToo’s new hub includes seven 3.0 ports and two charging ports. It has a footprint less than 6 x 2 inches, and it charges iPads as well as iPhones. Generous length cables are supplied.
Griffin’s new Merchant Case + Square Reader for iPhone 5/5s includes a Square Reader and a handy storage spot for it on the back of the case. Not only does the case provide good protection, but Nancy loves that storage spot that keeps the Square Reader from ending up in the laundry -- or lost forever.
The two piece Dilex iPad 5/5s case from Seido has an inside of soft rubber that is flexible and easy to use. Over that is a hard clip-on outer case that provides strength and protection.
