Here is the scoop:

I have a G4 with Tiger loaded on it and I want to hook it up to my TV and stereo as a media server. I already have the cables. FYI - HD is not something that I am after. I want to stream this all from a USB drive that I have shared using an APE and everything will be hard wired.

Without front row…..what is the best way to do this?

The avdent of RAW, the need for Fit to View (for big files), and an ever larger number of (photo) files to edit makes every wait seem longer. Presently, I have a G5 with 2 BG memory and a ATI Radeon 9600 XT (256 MB) graphics board.

For large files with compute-intensive edits, I am looking to upgrade to newer hardware. But not right away.

For the G5, would I be better off spending for newer/faster graphics board more memory?

Eventually, I will need a dedicate/faster machine, and was thinking about a 24 inch IMac with a GeForce7600 and 2 GM RAM. Will this be enough, or will I need to think about a Mac Pro?

TIA

It’s no secret that I use Photoshop nearly every day and have for years. I’m currently using Photoshop CS5, but there are plenty of alternatives out there. I’m curious what apps other than Photoshop people are using and enjoying. Pixelmator looks like a nice alternative for some people. What other applications are you using?

Can anyone recommend a Compact Flash recovery application, preferably free or at least cheap.

Likewise any advice on what the best reader to use would also be appreciated.

Dear All, (I tried to find a thread on this but failed)

I have just bought a domain name and a hosting service. I would now like to create my website, and I would also like to include in that website a blog.

Can someone recommend some good free web site creation/design software? I was thinking of using Wordpress for the blog as I believe it can be buried away in the website.

I just tried to down load Nvu, but for some reason cannot.

thanks

I decide that I would like to keep the first three and last two. Can I delete segments four to eight in order to replace them with a different loops?? This would seem to be an important editing function if one had spent some time adding loops and loop segments for a movie sound track and needed or wanted to make a change to some select loop or series of loops. dhoro

HELP!
Does anybody out there know of a way to change the location of the text (metadata, including captions and titles), in slideshows? Must the text always appear over the photograph?
We have around 30,000 photos to build into slideshows, so the text can not be added one slide at a time either! We have looked at several plug ins, even borderFX, but nothing seems to work for metadata which includes 2 lines of text.
Any and all ideas on creating solutions are welcome and appreciated
