Got a strange problem with Snow Leopard that I was wondering if anyone had a solution for.

If I run iTunes, and it has a lot to do (e.g. downloading podcasts, plus maybe a TV show, etc.), about half the time the entire system will freeze up. First iTunes becomes unresponsive, then things like the dock become unresponsive, and eventually (within about a minute), the mouse becomes unresponsive, and the system turns into a big brick, requiring a hard reboot.

Any thoughts?

Thanks…

I am trying to import some iphoto videos into imovie but I cant find them through imovie.

the videos are in my iphoto library, for I can see them mixed with my photos when I look at my events in iphoto.

However, in imovie I can only see the photos in my iphoto events folders not the videos.

I remember installing iphotos on the second of the internal hard drives in this mac pro, and so freeing up some space on the boot drive. Could that explain it?

But where are those video files that show up in events in iphoto and how can I get imovie to access them?

thanks

I have a problem with my 3GS iPhone - the screen has zoomed in to where I see less than a quarter of the normal screen. It is not responsive to finger movements to unzoom - it does wiggle a little, but does not change. It will slightly unzoom, but then it ‘snaps’ back. I have turned it off and re-started, restored original settings and used an older save to reload. The problem remains.

I have had this problem before, but the phone became responsive in one instance and I was able to restore once. This is the third occurance in 2 months.

I am unable to use the keyboard to unlock the phone.

Any suggestions? I am thinking I may need to go to my Apple store tomorrow and see if they can help.

Edit: I loaded a very old save. That fixed the zoom problem.

I have a new iMac, Intel Duo Core, OS 10.6.2.
Two Questions:
1) Somehow I’ve managed to ask for my password every time I try to move something (pix, etc.) to the trash. I don’t want to have to do this each time. I’ve checked passwords in Help and Spotlight and can’t seem to find how to change this. How can I just drag the items to trash without having to put in my password?
2) I want to eliminate much of my “images”—10,000—before using Time Machine. Many images are ones that came with my new iMac—maps; icons, printers, etc. I’m not going to use them, but I don’t know if some of the icons—shapes, full bleed, etc.—are needed for some procedure. Also, if there are dupe photos, I’m assuming I need to keep only one copy. Thanks.

All, I have been a huge MAC fan since I have implemented a MAC network 7 months ago. The problem is, I have been messing with backup storage for that long. The networking was no problem. Here is my situation.

3 - iMACs
1 - MACPro
They are all hard wired into a switch.
Into that switch is a DROBO and DROBO Share.
I am attempting to make that a backup source.
I have found that the DROBO backup software doesn’t work well yet.
Obviously TimeMachine backups aren’t doable.

Carbon Copy Cloner would work great if I were connected via USB, but I can’t create a sparse image from over the network, so I thought, “hey, maybe I’ll create the sparse image on the desktop, and then move it to the network and point CCC to it and have it continue to back up there.” Nope, can’t get it to move basically due to a “read only” error, and now I can’t delete it due to the read only error. I tried to compress it to maybe get it out of the read only, and it doesn’t even attempt to make a compression.

Does anyone have a backup software or ideas that will work? 7 months is getting to be ridiculous.

Can a bootable clone made from one Mac be used to boot up a different Mac? The clone is from my 2-year-old iMac running latest Snow Leopard and the other system would be a ~1-year-old MacBook that is probably still running Leopard. The external drive is 800/400/USB combo so connectivity wouldn’t be an issue. The iMac is backed up online and to a Time Machine drive as well, so risk to the data on the clone isn’t a big issue.
