Just sneaking in under the wire - here’s a selection of LOTR-related photies: http://www.daemons.co.nz/~laurie/TMO/
The first photo was taken at my b’day party last night - I turned 90 BTW (with the help of a similarly aged friend), but the rest were taken down town. Wellington is going LOTR-mad - more so than usual, with the world-wide premiere (w00t, I think the word is) tomorrow afternoon. There are tourists everywhere.
We’ve been warned not to expect much internet response at work tomorrow, with the live web-cams running full-bore.

My t-shirt is going down a treat. When I was standing around at the International Jousting Competitions on Saturday (I love saying that!), quite a few people guffawed and really appreciated it. I didn’t meet anyone there who was of the other persuasion.
A mate who is the chief IT bloke at a small but wealthy regional bank was particularly keen on it. He’s a Unix guy from waaaaay back; he recently convinced the CEO-equivalent of his bank that they should convert the whole bank on to Linux. When the CEO found it would cost them hundreds of thousands dollars less a year in licensing fees and would obviate virtually all their security problems, he needed no more convincing.
So every desktop is running Linux, with OpenOffice.
The online banking system is on an old 486, and it never falls over. Why? not because they can, but because there’s no reason no to.

Well, this time, lets get someone who has never had his photo on the forums up.

From left to right: FlatEric, nougatmachine, Jason Varner.
This pict was taken the day after Thanksgiving. Spiffy, isn’t it?

I think that needs to be crossposted to the TMO Meetup thread and the Who are you thread.

Get Mr. Nougatmachine’s picture everywhere!

Hey, it’s me circa two and a half months ago! Though I risk breaking the hearts of all the lady TMO’ers (or not
), I must be honest and say that just days after that picture was taken I got my hair cut. Still, though it isn’t quite up to date, you now have a handy visual reference for all of my posts. All hail the FL TMO gang! :D

And the question only FlatEric and nougatmachine can answer is whether Jason Varner always wears that straw hat and sunglasses.
