DVD player compatability

I was trying out the new DVD player, which is mostly awesome, when I encountered a problem. During playback of Saving Private Ryan, it stuttered and quit near the end of the Radar scene, giving a DVDManager fatal error message (Error reading from disk -36). The disc is *pristene* but it is a dual layer disc. Does anyone else have Saving Private Ryan? Has anyone else seen this on a multi-layer disc?
