The Virgin Group will begin selling songs by digital download in the US starting in August and begin operations in the UK a month later. Virgin’s move adds to the frowing field of online music distributors set to open their digital doors in the second half of 2004.

The question is: How will the iTunes Music Store hold up in the face of well-funded competition?
