I have never been able to figure this out.  I understand Steve gets free plane service.  But,  ???

Has he been given actual shares?

Has he been given options at a given price?

Did he cancel some of his shares, i.e. give them up?

Has he made any actual money at Apple in the last 4 years?

Help,
Dr. L

He still owns a substantial amount of stock, and has been given more I believe.  The better the company does the better he does, due to stock.

It really all depends on which report you read or believe.  You can read that he got paid $1 per year, or you can read that he got paid over 1 Billion dollars and is the highest paid CEO in America.  Both are true in some ways.

AFAIK, the only compensation Steve Jobs has received from Apple in addition to the $1 per year and health insurance for his family is the jet and the restricked stock grant.

The grant was in exchange for all of his previously granted stock options.

The problem with these kinds of news reports is the jet, the options and the restricted stock grant are often counted over and over again.

The jet was given in a different period than when it was officially reported by Apple as income to him and the restricted stock grant replaces all of the stock options counted as compensation to Jobs in previous periods.

The stock grant vests over a multi-year period though the grant was reported to the media some time ago.

Interesting, thanks.

Does this mean that (I know Jobs is already very wealthy) that Jobs essentially does work for effectively no comp?

That he does it for the dedication, power, glory, belief, etc?

AFAIK, this is how Steve Jobs has financially benefited from his relationship from the time of his return:

The $350 million acquisition of NeXT. He received shares of Apple stock that he quickly sold.

$1 per year in compensation and health insurance for his family.

$90 million in the form of a jet (the cost of the jet plus the covering of his tax liability on the jet as income).

Stock grants that vest three years after the grant, replacing all previously received options. The value of the grant at the time of issuance was estimated at $175 million.

Still, it’s Pixar that made Steve Jobs a billionaire. But it’s Apple that puts him on the cover of Time.

Does Steve make a bundle or not?  Is this a recount of previous options?
