I have a Yamaha CRW6416SX CD-RW drive and a Microtech USB XpressSCSI SCSI-to-USB adapter.

Now, this drive is obviously not on the compatibility list from Apple but I have heard reports of it working with iTunes.

Has anyone had any luck with this drive in iTunes OR Disc Burner in Mac OS 9?  I’d love it if I could get it to work and have tried “hacks” I found online but none of them helped.

I have the 6416S (SCSI internal) your is the external model right?

It is installed in a beige G3 tower using onboard SCSI.

I use iTunes all the time and it works fine.

I doubt you will get this to work using a USB-SCSI converter. Even if you do, it won’t give you reliable cds at better then 2x speed.

That’s right, this is the external model.

I already use this drive on the converter along with Toast.  It has been quite reliable when burning at 4x.
