Hitachi has announced the company will be doubling its output capacity of the hard drives used in the popular iPod.

I would think Hitachi’s willingness to make the investment to increase capacity must be linked to a commitment from Apple to keep the drives in demand.

Does this mean less expensive iPods might be on the way as both Apple and Hiticahi reach high output economies?
