If this is impossible with the current forum software let me know, but it would be nice if at the top of the forum index there was a field that would let you specify how new a post should be to warrant a red folder. I log onto TMO from as many as 4 machines in a day sometimes (not to mention seperate browsers on one machine), and it would save me time if this was possible.

Everything is possible with phpBB, but we are not hacking our forums any more until version 2.0 arrives.  They are getting close to releasing RC2 (release candidate 2), and I believe that most of what all of us want in our forums is actually present in version 2.0.

Hopefully, at least.  icon_biggrin.gif

One thing I hope is fixed/remedied: When you edit a post, and hit submit, you are taken back to the first page of that thread. Not really annoying, just disorientating. Not really worth saying, just idle banter. icon_smile.gif

Yeah, for TMO forum junkies in need of their daily fix of discussions and bad jokes, the things pointed out by DaiMac and x136 are annoying. I always have that “huh?” moment when finding myself back at page 1 after submitting a post to a thread.
Oh, and I’m one of the “I have a cozy job and can surf into TMO four times a day people” too, so I understand Daimac’s pain. icon_smile.gif

Gotta go now, there’s probably been an update to the Chain Gang…

We could actually fix that editing problem now, but it probably won’t happen before MACWORLD.

What’s that you say? Something new being announced by TMO today?  Could it be that only those of you here get this sneak-preview moment?

Stay tuned.  icon_biggrin.gif

Thought: Could the read/unread flag be handled by the login instead of a cookie? Then if you were to login from one computer and read some messages, then go back to another, the messages you had already read wouldn’t be marked as unread.

Sounds a lot more difficult to me, but it would be neat. icon_smile.gif

I agree with x.  There are several discussion boards I visit every once in a while that do this, so I never have to “guess” on another machine which threads I had read.

Best regards,
Brad

Oh, you said “new since”.  I thought you were recommending a “nuisance” field.  Now that would be a breakthrough!
