I wanted to remind our creative folks out there that we are going to be needing cool avatar images for when we upgrade to the 2.0 version of the phpBB forum engine. I am especially interested in cool Mac avatars, 3D avatars, and anything that is particularly cool. I can’t promise anything in return for them, so feel free to check with me before you do anything.

A few questions:
What resolution should they be? 32x32? 48x48? 64x64? 1024x768?

What size? 4k or so?
What format? GIF? JPEG? PNG?
Animated? (Please say no…)
That’s all for now.

Up to 80 x 80, but 64 x 64 is preferred. 1k to 4k at the most for file size.

Ok, here’s one.

I think this avatar business is going to be far too much fun.
And at least there is more room to work with on an avatar vs. a smiley.

I will gladly pay $10 for an avatar of Thor hitting an MCSE in the head with his hammer.
And I don’t think I’m alone in that.

Some cool ones I think…I like the Staff and MOD ones myself…again, I am a bit biased.

Cool stuff, guys!
I have several coming for staff members, mods, mac specialists ... and yes, the Moof! Observer logo and The Evil Girls™ will be making cameo appearances.
Tune in tomorrow (or later tonight).
Best regards,

Not to be a wet blanket, but will there be any way of browsing with avatars turned off if one so desires?

Great stuff, folks!

I am very excited.

Brilliant, x!

Well done!

Man, I am so excited. Can’t wait for the 2.0 engine. In fact, I think I’ll go check the status now…

x, Spider, I LOVE what you guys have made so far. It really makes me excited about adding this feature.
Hopefully some of our other creative members will be equally inspired.
