Is Garageband broken?

So there I was, making an enhanced podcast on my brand new 24” iMac Core 2Duo, using the most recent builds of OS X, Garageband, iTunes…the whol iLife ‘06 suite.  I get my masterpiece done and mix it down to iWeb so I can share this slideshow with some co-workers.  I publish my site and go check it out and voila’!  Nothing.  Well, not NOTHING. I had audio, but no artwork or chapter markers.  So I open up my podcast in iTunes and same thing…audio sans artwork/chapter markers.  After about an hour of tinkering with various settings and remixing my podcast I finally make use of AppleCare and call.  I get a hold of “Daniel” (from India) and he is able to replicate my problem on his end (Thanks Daniel for reaffirming that it wasn’t ME).  So after about 45 minutes of being placed on hold while he “researched the problem”, “Daniel” forwards me to Chris, a product specialist back here in the good old USA.  Chris is able to also replicate this little gem of an issue. and tells me that he is forwarding the issue to the Software engineering department and that I will be contacted in 3-5 days.

Now while on hold with “Daniel” I did some research of my own and it would appear that I am not the only person out there having this problem.  There were a few people on the Apple support forum with the same problem and vaious things were suggested to remedy it (which I tried to no avail) but there was no definitive answer.  The one thing that was suggested that I didn’t try was downgrading my version of Garageband.  I personally don’t like this idea and I was wondering if any of my fellow TMO readers had encountered this problem and managed to solve it.  Any help would be greatly apprecaited.  I’ll also keep you all posted as to what Apple has to offer when they call back.

    Yes…yes it was broken.

I fixed it.  A download and reinstall of the most recent updater from the Apple website took care of it.
